Bass Fishing in the Rain

I've fished for largemouth bass for over two decades. In that time I've probably tried just about every form of bait that you could think of; night crawlers, minnows, hot dogs, corn, as well as, the laundry list of artificial lures at your local tackle shop. A lot of bass fishing baits worked well at different points in time, but only three worked consistently at landing the largemouth bass, and those are the three that I consider to be the best bass fishing baits.

Here is my list of the 3 best bass fishing baits :

  1. The spinner bait – this in my opinion is the best bass fishing lure. The spinner bait is one of the scariest looking lures of all time, but I'm telling you they work – at least in a few Michigan and Florida lakes that I frequent. If you really want to drive a bass wild, attach a trailer hook with a mister twister tail to this bait and you are bound to catch some fat bass. I have caught fish with spinner baits in lakes that people have thought didn't contain fish! There are a lot of different ways to dress up these lures. If you're serious about fishing, then you should become very familiar with the colors and accessories that you can use with these lures. Granted, some colors (like chartreuse and black) seem to be better than others.

  2. Crank bait – these baits aren't likely to land the most fish – but they are very likely to land the BIG fish (largemouth bass, and northern pike, too!). I use to fish with a guy that would fish using only a large deep diver crank bait for a full 8+ hours. This crank bait was so large that it used to bend his pool while he reeled it in! Most thought he had a fish on his line by the way the crank bait was bending his pole! I have to admit, I would usually out fish him 4 or 5 fish to 1, but his total catch would always outweigh mine! Big bass love these baits, especially tiger stripped lures.

  3. Mister twister soft plastic lure – if you're looking to catch decent size bass all day long, then you should stock up on your Mister Twister soft plastic lures! These are a ton of fun to use, and they are also very capable of landing the big trophy bass as well! There are a lot of different color schemes that you can use for these lures. I found that chartreuse and black are the better colors.

Granted, every fisherman probably has a top 3 list, but I just shared mine with you. Hopefully you can try out these lures yourself on your next fishing trip. If you do, I have high confidence that you'll consider at least one of these baits as your best bass fishing bait!
