Bass Fishing With A Texas Flavor |
The Weedline – Where the Monster Bass Hang |
If you want, your bass fishing to take on a Texas flavor
you need tubes. Tubes are a great choice for bass fishing,
especially those with an internal weighted head. However, if
you decide just to use those you are missing out on the versatility
this bait has to offer, and you will never discover its full potential.
Generally, you’ll be able to get away with 8-pound test but it wouldn’t hurt to utilize a 20-pound test that will cut through all the waterweeds with no problems. A fast ratio reel is preferred for tubing. If you want a reel, you can depend on check out the Shimano Sustain 2500FD or one of the other Shimano reels. Use a brass weenie weight that is painted black with your tube rig. If you’ve never heard of a brass weenie weight is just a sliding bullet weight that’s a little wider and made of brass. The other difference is that it has better amplification of sound, and as an added bonus, it is environmentally friendly. It just takes the Texas rig to a new level. The bead reflects light so it flashes in the water making it one of the best features of this spruced up Texas rig. Also, the slapping motion of the bead and the brass weenie will sometimes attract fish to their location. The tube that’s recommended if you want to do things Texas style is the Micro Munch – it’s wicked! It has a double thick wall that makes the tube durable and it holds the hook neatly in place. The tube has the Kick N Bass scent mold right into the plastic, which makes it a little bit stinky for the human nose, but the bass love it! But be warned – if there are any cats in the area they are going to be doing their best to get into your tackle box. Don’t be surprised if you se a bit of an oil slick on the water. The Micro Munch is known for this. If you are really serious about the big bass, then why not go Texas crazy with the El Gordo tube, which is a four inch dipped tube that’s really gets, those bigger bass excited. Choose colors like watermelon, pumpkin, purple, black, brown, red flake, smoke purple, and melon. If one color isn’t doing the trick, don’t be afraid to try another color. If you want your bass fishing to take on a Texas flavor, go for the tube! |
